At 7:00PM, Travis Kelley called the January 17, 2006 SSHBEA Board of Directors meeting to order and asked Janice Higgins call the roll. All were present except Dan Meyer, and Ronnie Sapp who had both notified the office of their absence. Travis asked Janice to read the minutes of the last meeting and the required meeting held after the Annual Membership meeting. Janice read the 12-20-05 minutes and the 1-14-06 minutes and a motion was made to approve them, seconded and passed.

Johnny asked to address the policy for problem transfers. He had gone over the rules in place and doesn’t see anything that can be changed to make it easier. He thought they should be handled by the rules as we have been doing.

Janie questioned what is going to be done about the past due accounts. Travis said he and Aaron are going to call them and see if some can be collected and what can’t, will be turned over to a collection agency.

Cindy Haley and Renita Haley were present to speak to the board concerning the SSHBEA Youth Council. Travis asked for approval of them to be Co-Chairpersons of the Youth Council and they were approved. They presented a handout with their proposed goals and ideas. (see attached) Travis asked if the Youth Council would sell the programs at the Spring & Fall Shows.

All the committee heads and members were approved.

Johnny Smith made the motion for Travis to work on the Out of State representatives, Kathy Baker seconded, motion passed.

Freda Bullard made the motion to approve $800 for a dinner and meeting for the One Night Show chairmen from the last 4-5 years. Johnny Smith seconded, motion passed.

Travis reported that Mack Motes had told him that we were not ready to sign with the commission. To go ahead and prepare ourselves for shows just like we had in years before 2005. Travis suggested contacting all the commission judges that indicated interest in judging SSHBEA shows last year to see if they are interested in judging SSHBEA shows this year. Janice Prince reported that show sponsoring groups are already calling with questions about the affiliation fees for this year.

Dan sent an email concerning an invoice from the Marriott for $2,000+ due to being short on rooms used and short on banquet reservations. Dan had been working with them to get this lowered and had got them down to $1,000 and recommended we pay this. The motion was made to pay this, motion seconded, and passed.

Aaron Crafton had contacted someone about the appraisal of our property.

Freda Bullard had a list that we think is close to complete of the charter members. She made the motion to have a plaque made with these members recognized. Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed.

Sis Osborne made the motion to adjourn, Freda Wassom seconded, motion passed.
