Minutes of 8-13-07 SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting

 

            Bob Wright called the SSHBEA Board of Directors meeting to order at 7:00PM on August 13, 2007 .  He asked for an update on Renita Haley’s parents and daughter.  Mr. Herring’s daughter’s father-in-law had passed away.  Dan Meyer had an MRI and will have an epidural for back pain.  John Baskin is about the same.  Bob then asked Doug Herring to lead us in prayer.  Janice Higgins called the roll and all were present except Dan Meyer, Tamara Sullivan and Kasey Kesselring who had notified the office of their absence.  Ronnie Sapp made the motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting.  Aaron Crafton seconded, motion passed. 

 

Bob indicated the minutes reflected a motion that CTP and TTP Amateur and Amateur Owned & Trained classes should be listed as 12 & over, but the Fall Show class sheet does not reflect these changes.  The classes would be changed. 

 

            Doug Herring made the motion that Phil Dunivan could have a Horse Sale on the 2nd Saturday, September 29, of the Fall show in Champions Arena from 10:00 – 3:00 and would pay us a $1300.00 flat fee.  Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Renewed discussion about Dan Meyer having gone to 3 horse fairs this year to represent SSHBEA brought the following motion.  Sis Osborne made the motion to reimburse Dan Meyer (and group) $350 per each horse fair they have been to this year (being three).  Maude Hopkins seconded, motion passed.  We will write a procedure for reimbursements for such events for following years. 

 

            We have a member, Tony Edwards, upset because he wants to put a solid horse on a page ad with three (3) SSH’s and we have a rule that we can’t advertise other breeds in our magazine due to a rule made several years ago.  After discussion, Kim McMahan made the motion to allow this ad and others with SSH’s on the page.  The solid horse will be identified as TWH registered only and the SSHBEA registered horse(s) must be the primary horse(s) in the ad.  Aaron Crafton seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Ronnie Sapp  made the motion to approve the following Hearing Committee – Greg Perry-Chairman, Dickie Gardner-Co-Chairman, Mack Motes, Kim McMahan, Sis Osborne, Jason Simmons, Wade Hill and Sis Osborne with Hubert Perry and Brian Hill as alternates.  Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Bob Wright reported that Cheryl Crowe’s trainer and her TWH/SSH may be doing an exhibition at the TWH Celebration. 

 

            We have reports of several shows recently clearing a good amount of money – Mid Season-$5500, LAHA (Woodbury)-$5000, couple of others made around $4000 each.

 

            Aaron Crafton presented the Financial Report.  He complimented all that had shows in July – this helped our bottom line greatly.   The write off of $12,000 - $13,000 had been done.  Bob reported that Dwayne Cawthon is upset about the insert on our “past due policy” that went with all statements.   Roy Franklin made the motion to approve the financial report, Kim McMahan seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Roy Franklin reported that Mr. Arlie Weddington had suggested to him that we elect a Sport Horse of the Year at the annual meeting, like we do the Horse of the Year.  He made this a motion that from this point on we have 2 Horses of the Year – Sport Horse and regular Horse of the Year.  Sis Osborne seconded, motion passed. 

 

            The Judges committee had the following judge’s applicants to be approved.  Freda Bullard made the motion to approve Kim McMahan for her Master license, Ronnie Sapp seconded, motion passed.  Ronnie Sapp made the motion to approve Rachel Jernigan for her regular judges license, Janie Rowland seconded, motion passed.  Ronnie Sapp made the motion to approve Barney Davis for his regular judges license, Freda Bullard seconded, motion passed with 2 abstaining.  Ronnie Sapp made the motion to approve Harry Dean Hobbs for his regular judges license, Janie Rowland seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Next the board drew names for the fall show judges.  Janice Prince would start contacting them for acceptance tomorrow. 

 

            Kim McMahan made the motion to approve Bob Wright as Fall Show Chairman, Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Ronnie Sapp made the motion to hire Jennifer Potts and Matt Moorehead as Fall Show photographers.  Janie Rowland seconded, motion passed.  Tammy Coffman stated we need to create a contract to be signed by all parties for whoever the photographer is. 

 

            Janie Rowland made the motion to change the Hall of Fame back to only electing one (1) recipient (unless a tie-no limit) per year.   Ronnie Sapp seconded, motion passed.   Sis Osborne made the motion that the existing/current Hall of Fame members and the Board of Directors both vote on the nominees.   Ronnie Sapp seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Dickie Gardner made the motion that there be two (2) separate licenses – Halter and Under Saddle.  Person holding Halter license can still hold amateur status showing under saddle and under saddle horse cannot be a partnership horse and cannot show in Amateur Owned and Trained.  Ronnie Sapp seconded, motion passed. 

 

            Sis Osborne made the motion to adjourn, Mark Cutlip seconded, motion passed.
