Minutes of 8/10/09
SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting
At 7:00PM on August
10, 2009, Mack Motes called the SSHBEA Board of Directors meeting to order and
asked Janice Higgins to call the roll. All
were present except Maude Hopkins who had notified the office and Gordon Hirschi
who had not notified the office. Doug
Herring was attending the meeting by conference call.
Janice then read the minutes of the last meeting and they were approved
as read with 3 changes in a motion by Roy Franklin, seconded by Linda Bedwell,
motion passed.
Mack reported he had attended the USDA meeting last month on the 2010
operating plan.
After discussion Sis Osborne made a motion to put the rule on the SSHBEA
website about only 1 foot can be rebuilt – the OP rule and our rule both on
there. Holly Sanders seconded,
motion passed.
After other discussion about the tungsten or partial tungsten shoes there
was a question if that rule should be put on the website.
Final decision was to just enforce the rule we have to cover this.
Robert Morgan took the floor to discuss the belt buckle situation for the
fall show. Kim McMahan made the
motion to only sell and award belt buckles in the grand championship and world
grand championship classes and if winners of other classes want a belt buckle
they could order them afterwards. Bob
Wright seconded, motion passed. Roy
Franklin made the motion to give 2 free tickets with to the buckle sponsors.
Sis Osborne seconded, motion passed.
Aaron Crafton made the motion to pay only 3 places in fall show classes -
$20, $15 & $10. And we must have
a minimum of 4 horses to award payback at all.
Shane Hartwig seconded, motion passed.
Aaron Crafton made the motion to double the payback amount in the grand
championship classes - $40, $30 & $20. Sis
Osborne seconded, motion passed. Dickie
Gardner made the motion to only give ribbons to 5 places instead of 10 as usual.
Aaron Crafton seconded, motion passed.
Benny Lance made the motion to pay $100, $75, & $50 and 1/2 of the
entry fees as usual to the world grand championship classes.
Michelle Bailey seconded, motion passed.
Freda Bullard made the motion to allow the Bedford County Democratic
Women’s Association to meet in the back room on August 15 for $150 or $200.
Holly Sanders seconded, motion passed.
Aaron Crafton presented the financial report.
We are still in the black but only barely.
Sis Osborne made the motion to approve the financial report.
Benny Lance seconded, motion passed.
Mr. Herring committed to 3 belt buckles.
He also challenged all board members to go out and find 5 new SSHBEA
members.
The judges committee recommended the following judges to be approved.
Scott Armstrong – SHOW, Peggy
Moore - SSHBEA & Christy Turner
– SSHBEA. Sis Osborne made the
motion to approve them, Dickie Gardner seconded, motion passed.
Roy Franklin made the motion to add the Showmanship class back to the
fall show, Sis Osborne seconded, motion passed.
Kevin Gilliam had made this request and will pay to sponsor the class.
Freda Bullard made the motion to approve the class sheet with the
addition of 3 classes – the showmanship and a country trail pleasure
sweepstake class and traditional trail pleasure sweepstake class.
Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed.
Judges names were drawn with the 1st few SSHBEA judges being,
Ronnie Sapp, Derek Myers, Roy Franklin, Kim McMahan & Phil Dunivan.
The 1st few TWH judges were Gerald Campbell, Layne Leverette,
Tommy Howell & Richard Wall.
Freda Bullard made the motion to adjourn, Roy Franklin seconded, motion
passed.
