Minutes of 10/12/09
SSHBEA Board of Directors Meeting
At 7:00PM on October 12, 2009, Mack Motes called the SSHBEA
Board of Directors meeting to order and asked Janice Higgins to call the roll.
All were present except Ronnie Sapp, Maude Hopkins & Linda Bedwell
who had all notified the office of their absence.
Janice Higgins then read the minutes from the last 2 meetings.
Sis Osborne made the motion to approve the August 10 minutes, Aaron
Crafton seconded, motion passed. Sis
Osborne made the motion to approve the September 14 minutes, Holly Sanders
seconded, motion passed.
Danny Davis was present to report from the Judges Committee
meeting. A request will be made of
the fall show judges to take a polygraph test.
Dr. Cezar had called Danny to tell him she had received videos from our
fall show showing bad image horses and had been verbally told of other problems.
Most was false info.
There will be a Judges Clinic at the SSHBEA office on November
14.
A letter had been received from the other spotted association
requesting we try not to schedule our shows on the same dates again this year.
Mack appointed Dickie Gardner to head the committee to work with them,
Sis Osborne made the motion to approve him, Benny Lance seconded, motion passed.
Mack went over the changes in the Operating Plan Draft to be
presented to the USDA. Cindy Haley
made the motion for Mack to make the best possible judgment that he thinks
necessary on the Horse Protection Operating Plan.
Bob Wright seconded, motion passed. Mack
reported there is a teleconference tomorrow, Oct 13.
There is a meeting in Washington on November 10.
Bob Wright made the motion for Mack to go to Washington with a maximum
budget of $1000 and to delay the November board meeting until November 16.
Roy Franklin seconded, motion passed.
Mack informed the board that we are involved in a law suit.
A lady fell last fall at our fall show in the Celebration parking lot
across the street from Calsonic Arena. She
has sued Celebration and SSHBEA. We
don’t feel we can be held liable since we don’t get any money from the
parking there.
Next Aaron Crafton presented the financial report.
He reported we cleared $12,616 on the 2009 Fall show.
There should be more income to add. Dickie
Gardner made the motion to approve the Financial Report, Kim McMahan seconded,
motion passed.
Gordon Hirschi reported he had attended a 3 day trail ride in
Oklahoma. They want to get an SSHBEA
group organized in Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri and possibly a 4th
state. They want to do another trail
ride next year, want to start having shows, one person wants to become a board
member, some want to be judges and inspectors.
Doug Herring presented Gordon Hirschi with the $500 prize for
being the Bronze winner of the 25th Anniversary Olympic Games.
Doug reported we had a total of 72 new members resulting from the games.
Sis Osborne made a motion to approve the following extra
alternate members of the existing Hearing Committee, Aaron Crafton, Benny Lance,
Holly Sanders and Larry Wilhoite. Motion
seconded and passed. Other members
are Don Woodson-Chairman, Chad Hillis, Randy Drinkard, Doug Herring, Dickie
Gardner, Linda Bedwell and Alternates, Michelle Bailey & Janice Higgins.
Cindy Haley made the motion to adjourn, Sis Osborne seconded,
motion passed.
